WASHINGTON / TEHRAN — Global financial markets are bracing for impact following a dramatic escalation in rhetoric between Washington and Tehran.
Iranian officials issued a stern warning directly aimed at U.S. President Donald Trump today, stating that any potential American military strike would trigger a massive retaliation. Tehran made it clear that a conflict would not be contained, threatening to expand the warfare “well beyond the borders of the Middle East” if pushed by U.S. forces.
The immediate fallout of these threats was felt heavily on Wall Street and international trading floors. Global oil prices have surged well above $110 per barrel, as panicked investors fear a major disruption in the Strait of Hormuz.
